Daynotes | a daily journal of our activity | |
Digital Choke | an action that is sometimes needed for your computer; also a short techno-story available here. |
"Daynotes" are popularized by a Internet Web site called the "Daynotes Gang" (http://www.daynotes.com or http://www.daynotes.org), a collection of the daily technical and personal observations from the famous and others. That group started on September 29, 1999, and has grown to an interesting collection of individuals. Readers are invited and encouraged to visit those sites for other interesting daily journals. Under the weather the past couple of days. But will be back tomorrow (Monday). Stay well.
Saturday was the big network server room reorganization. I just went there to help out; I had no specific duties. I moved some servers out of small racks into big racks; the purpose of that was to get the servers into more logical groupings. There was also a massive re-wiring of all the network cabling, which had gotten quite messy. And a few servers were getting more disk space.
The network services group had the full crowd there, and quite a lot got done. I was starting to get redundant -- didn't have much to do -- so was able to leave in the afternoon. The group had blocked out all weekend, and were able to get everything done. At least, I think they got it all done; the network looked fine from home this morning.
Sunday was the usual. Church, kids, grandkids, dinners, etc. A good time was had by all.
Pam and I are taking the whole week off to spend time with our family. Today was baking day. Lots of sugar and spice and great smells from the kitchen. Christine came over with the grandkids, who had fun decorating cookies and watching Christmas movies of all sorts.
While the rest of the gang was working on making a mess in the kitchen (which I had cleaned this morning, for which I did get extra points), I set up the Christmas tree. Pam picked up a new stand for the tree. This one is pretty heavy duty one, we've had some in the past that required using some heavy duty string connected to an eye bolt in the wall (discreetly placed) to keep the trees from falling.
So, I got the tree up and reasonably straight, then put on the lights. That's always been my part of the decorating tasks. I get the tree set up, the lights on, and Pam and the kids put on the decorations. We set up the tree in the "bonus" room upstairs. It will be a nice place to open presents on Christmas morning.
Then we took a quick walk to a few of the new neighbors to give them a plate of Christmas cookies.
The grandkids left about 6pm, so we had some take-out, then Stacy had a friend over and we watched "Freaky Friday". (Actually, it's going on right now.) And I got cookies for desert.
