This is the result of pressing the second button, which redirects you to a different page, still hosted on www.digitalchoke.com/daynotes.

But take a look at the URL (address bar). Are you on my pages here at "Digital Choke", or are you on Microsoft's pages?

And what if this page contained an official-looking page from your bank asking you for your credit card info, PIN number, social security number, etc.

Or perhaps it contains "Microsoft" official update information ("Click here to get the patch")? If you were careful, you'd probably look at the address bar up there to make sure it was from your bank. And look at the page title (this window's title bar).

Looks OK, doesn't it?

I'm not sure if this works in other browsers. But it works just fine in my Internet Explorer 6, latest patches.

And these two pages only took me about a half-hour to do. A bit more effort, and someone could use the same technique to create a very believable site to perform a bit of identity theft.

Be careful out there.
